Hello, mi gente! You missed me, didn’t you? Fear not, ’cause I’m back!
Let me explain. You may know about the low pressure atmospheric system that went through Puerto Rico on last weekend; this low eventually became hurricane Noel, which has been leaving a trail of destruction through Hispaniola, Cuba, and the Bahamas as I write this post. The system brought an incredible amount of rainfall, which covered most all of Puerto Rico from Friday 26 to Sunday 28. Part of that rainfall fell over Juncos (my hometown) at a very awkward time. And some of that rainfall did some damage on my house, including a leak in the wall of my bedroom (of all places!) next to where my computer is located.
(YOU’VE READ RIGHT! But I guess you may be more shocked by the thought of me writing this post in my pajamas… But then again, most of my readers do the same!)
So I had to relocate my computer within my bedroom to keep it safe from any remaining rain events for 2007. Of course, things like that make difficult to do those things I’d like to do, like posting my experiences with the symposium in which I was working as a part of its steering committee, with pics of some of the presenters (at least those with whom I’m acquainted). Anyway, barring any unforseen rain event (but then again, last week’s event WAS totally unforseen!), that should be my next post this weekend, so stay tuned!
Now, so as not to leave you in the dark, here’s an item I found this morning in the “world news” section of my paper, about a press release by Singapore Airlines concerning their new Airbus A380 planes. The A380 is regarded as the world’s largest plane currently in commercial use (even larger that Boeing’s 747… and yes, I remember seeing 747s flying to and from the San Juan International Airport back in the 1970s). If you’ve seen pics of this plane, you may have seen their roomy First Class compartments, and believe me, this goes way beyond you would usually see in other commercial airplanes. Just imagine yourself with that much room, in a First Class compartment with champaigne, luxury details and a double bed… YES! YOU’VE READ THAT RIGHT AGAIN! Double beds in First Class. So since the Singapore-Sydney (Australia) route is a long way (abaout 7 hours), what better use for those beds than…
… TO GET SOME SLEEP! (You thought I was going to write something else here?)
Or at least, that’s what Singapore Airlines pretends. Their problem is that the compartment dividers don’t go all the way up from the cabin’s floor, so when you least expect it there could be… some strange noises (you know what I mean!) which may offend other passengers.
I don’t know about you, but after reading the article (which you can find at the Reuters website), I started to wish I had the money for a First Class ticket from Singapore to Sydney, even if it was to enjoy the ride…
Oh well, let’s leave it right there! Take care and be good. See you next time! Bye!
