If you have taken the time to read my about page then you will know that I plan to get going in 2016 with a trip around Europe. I have spent the greater part of my life studying architecture and I especially love old buildings that date back as far as the roman era. Greece has some even deeper history but I find if it is too old then there is no complexity involved. I also love to play golf and practice religiously on my indoor simulator at home, this comes in real handy in winter. I am hoping to at least play a couple of courses at each destination on my trip just to experience the different golfing cultures.
So far, I plan to visit France, Italy, Spain and Greece and we will have to see where we go from there. I am fairly sure there is more than enough in these few places to keep me busy for the rest of the year. If I have extra time then I will just have to get out on the golf course!
Before setting out I have been doing my research so I at least understand a little bit about each region. One of the most interesting in my opinion is Italian renaissance and the video below gives a little introduction.
It does get a little complicated but once you understand the basics it all falls into place.
My only limitation will be available cash flow. I have been working on saving over the past 6 months and if I take it easy there is no reason I cannot survive for 3-4 months but the reality is that I will have to get a job at some point to keep my head above water. Hopefully, I can find something part time with the option to keep moving around.
I should be ready to look at posting updates sometime towards the end of Feb, I am not scheduled to leave before then and apart from a few pictures of everything ready to go I doubt it would make for a very interesting post.
If you have any area recommendations, then please send them via the contact page – it would be great if you have ideas on areas or regions to visit that I had not already planned to see. I hope you enjoy yourself here and keep checking back for new updates!
